OUTSIDE EVENTS
2023
First of all I would like to thank all those members who have volunteered to attend the events this year which has been a busy one, with members attending 19 events from April to October with two more to come in December. These included a variety of different events some quite small others large all of which we have attended in previous years,
Berkswell Windmill, The Weavers House, Kingshill Nursery, Hill Close Gardens
Kenilworth Show, Christchurch Summer Celebration, Godiva Show.
At least two members attended most events, with just one occasionally at the Weavers House and Berkswell Mill, we were made welcome at all of them and members enjoyed the day, especially as it includes free entry and therefore an opportunity to look around at all the other attendees.
However it is the same members attending all of the events, so it would spread the responsibility and pleasure if more members could try to attend, it is preferable to have at least two members even better three at the larger events so the more members who can really helps. It isn’t necessary to be an expert in any of our core skills it is more important to be enthusiastic, our presence at these events is an opportunity to recruit new members. I would like to take this opportunity to express a warm welcome to those new members who have joined us having met us at one of these events.
I hope you will all look forward to attending these and maybe some new ones next year to continue to help keep these traditional skills alive.
